Web Embed Update: How to Switch Your Website to the New Embed Design

See what changed in the Artwork Archive web embed, how the classic design toggle works, and how to update your website to match your Public Profile.

Your Artwork Archive web embed can now match your redesigned Public Profile, with the same colors, layouts, and display options. Here's what changed, how the "classic design" toggle works, and how to update the embed that's already on your website.

Note:

It is not included on Artist Apprentice or Collector Starter.

What Changed in the Artwork Archive Web Embed

The web embed shows your artwork on your own website and stays in sync with your Artwork Archive account. It now uses the same design as your Public Profile, whether you embed your portfolio, a Collection, an artist page, your Artists List, or an Exhibition.

  • New embed code uses the new design by default

  • Embeds already on your website keep the classic design and keep working as they do today

  • Nothing on your website changes until you replace your embed code

  • Changes to your artwork order, and to which Pieces and Collections are public, still update your embed automatically

How the Classic Embed Design Toggle Works

On the Integrations tab, under What do you want to embed?, you'll see the Use the classic embed design (optional) toggle.

  • Off (the default): your Universal Embed Code uses the new design that matches your Public Profile

  • On: your Universal Embed Code uses the original, classic design

The toggle only changes the code shown on the Integrations tab. It never changes an embed that is already on your website.

Did you know?

The classic design is available to accounts that were using Artwork Archive before the new embed design launched. Accounts created after a certain date only have the new design, so you may not see this toggle.

How to Update Your Website to the New Web Embed Design

Artwork Archive can't edit your website for you, so you'll swap the code yourself. It only takes a few minutes.

  1. Click My Profile in the left-side menu, then click the Integrations tab

  2. Under What do you want to embed?, choose the same option you embedded before, such as Portfolio or Collection. For a Collection, pick it from the Select Collection drop-down

  3. Click Copy next to Universal Embed Code

  4. In your website builder, open the page where your artwork appears and click the code or embed block that holds your Artwork Archive code

  5. Delete the old code, paste your new code in its place, and save or publish the page

  6. View the page on your website to see the new design

Did you know?

Not sure where your code lives on your website? It's usually in a Code, Embed, or Custom HTML block on the page where your artwork appears. For platform steps, see WordPress or Squarespace, Wix, and other website builders.

How to Keep the Classic Web Embed Design

If you're happy with how your embed looks now, you don't need to do anything. Your existing embed keeps the classic design.

To add a new embed in the classic design, turn on Use the classic embed design (optional) before you click Copy. You can turn the toggle on or off at any time.

The Use the classic embed design (optional) toggle at the top of the What do you want to embed? section.

Web Embed Update Questions

Will my current embed stop working?

No. Embeds already on your website keep working in the classic design until you choose to replace the code.

Do I need to copy new code every time I add artwork?

No. New public Pieces, changes to your artwork order, and changes to which Pieces and Collections are public show up in your embed automatically. You only need new code to switch designs.

Why don't I see the classic design toggle?

Accounts created after a certain date only have the new embed design, so the toggle doesn't appear. Your Universal Embed Code already uses the new design.
