When building a Private Room, you can choose how your artworks appear to whoever opens the link.
The default is Tile View. You can switch to Grid View at any time using the toggle in the Display Settings section of the Private Room editor.
Both views show the same artworks and the same details. The difference is purely in how those images are arranged on the page.
Tile View (default)
Tile View displays artworks in a mosaic-style layout where images fill the available space at their natural proportions. Images sit flush against each other with no uniform spacing between them, creating a dense, gallery-wall feel.
Artwork details are hidden by default and appear when the recipient hovers over an image. You can change this using the Show info below piece image toggle in Display Settings, which moves the details beneath each image permanently.
Because Tile View fills space based on image dimensions, the order artworks appear on screen may shift slightly depending on the recipient's screen size.
Tile View works well when:
Your artworks vary in orientation (portrait, landscape, square)
You want the images themselves to be the focus
You're sharing a larger body of work and want a full, immersive feel
Your recipient is browsing rather than evaluating specific details
Grid View
Grid View displays artworks in uniform, evenly spaced columns with consistent spacing between each image. Each Piece gets equal visual weight on the page regardless of its dimensions, and the order you set is preserved exactly as your recipient sees it.
Artwork details appear below each image by default in Grid View.
Grid View works well when:
You want precise control over the order artworks appear
Your recipient needs to evaluate details alongside each image (price, medium, dimensions)
You're presenting a curated selection where the sequence matters, such as a commission proposal or exhibition submission
Your artworks are similar in orientation and you want a clean, consistent presentation
How to Change the View
Open the room editor by navigating to Artwork > Private Rooms and selecting Actions > Edit on the room you want to update.
Scroll down to Display Settings.
Toggle Grid view on or off. Tile View is the default when the toggle is off.
Optionally, toggle Show info below piece image if you want artwork details to appear beneath each image permanently rather than on hover.
Click Save Room.
Any changes take effect immediately at the existing URL. You do not need to re-share the link.
Not sure which to use?
If your priority is visual impact, use Tile View.
If your priority is clarity and order, use Grid View.
