Our Story + Mission

Artwork Archive is a cloud-based art inventory management system founded in 2010 in Denver, Colorado. As one of the first cloud-based art inventory systems, we have grown to become an industry leader, serving thousands of artists, collectors, and organizations in over 120 countries.

Our mission is to provide artists, collectors, and organizations with the tools they need to efficiently manage their art. We believe that every artist should have the resources to manage, market, and grow their business, and every art collector, whether an individual or institution, should have a way to organize, catalog, and protect their collections.

Inspired by personal experiences, our co-founders, John and Justin, set out to create a solution that addresses the unique challenges faced by artists and collectors. When John's mother, an oil painter, lost years of valuable information about her art career due to a hard drive crash, he realized the need for a secure, cloud-based art management system. Similarly, when Justin's basement flooded, damaging his artworks and leaving him struggling to find receipts and documentation, he discovered the lack of accessible and affordable collection management solutions.

Together, John and Justin developed Artwork Archive to provide a user-friendly, feature-rich platform that caters to the needs of modern-day artists, collectors, and organizations. Our system is designed to be accessible enough for early-stage artists or collectors while being powerful enough for complex organizations managing global collections.
