[Video Tutorial] How to Create Artwork Labels and QR Codes in Artwork Archive (for Artists)

Learn how to generate print-ready artwork labels and scannable QR codes for your inventory, exhibitions, and locations — directly from your Artwork Archive account.

Artwork Archive makes it easy to create print-ready labels and QR codes directly from your account.

Every artwork you create deserves a paper trail: one that travels with it from your studio to the gallery wall and beyond. Artwork Archive's Labels feature pulls directly from the details you've already documented to generate polished, print-ready artwork labels and scannable QR codes in just a few clicks.

Whether you're prepping wall labels for an exhibition, marking the back of a canvas for storage, or giving collectors a way to connect with your work digitally, labels bridge your physical artwork with its digital record.

What we cover in this tutorial:

  • Getting started: How to build your first label report from your Pieces page, step by step.

  • Label sizes and print templates: Choosing between Small, Medium, and Large label layouts and matching them to standard Avery print templates.

  • QR codes in action: How QR codes work from a smartphone and what scanning actually looks like.

  • The three QR link types: Internal links for private inventory management, Public links that connect to each piece's Public Profile page, and Custom links that direct scanners to any URL you choose.

  • Customizing and editing: Adjusting label content, saving your settings as a template, and making edits after a label report has already been generated.

Here is how to get the most out of Artwork Labels and QR Codes:

  • Labels are sized to align with standard Avery print templates so you can print directly onto label sheets without reformatting.

  • Choose your QR code link type based on who will be scanning. Internal links are best for studio and storage use since they point to your private account record. Public links are ideal for exhibitions and collector engagement, connecting the scanner to that piece's page on your Public Profile. Custom links let you point every label to a single URL of your choice, like your website or a gallery's website.

  • Use the Piece Sort Options drop-down to customize the order of your labels before generating.

  • Once you've configured a label setup you'll use regularly, save it as a template so your preferences are ready every time without starting from scratch.

  • In addition to the main Pieces page, you can generate labels directly from a Location Record or an Exhibition Record to create a label set specific to that context.
