Creating a Shortcut to Artwork Archive on Your Computer, Phone, or Tablet

Get to your Artwork Archive sign-in page in one click from your desktop, home screen, or browser.

Artwork Archive is cloud-based, so there's no app to download. A shortcut gives you the same one-click access: save it once, and your sign-in page is always a click or tap away on any device.

Before You Start: Make Your Shortcut From the Sign-In Page

A shortcut saves whatever page is open when you create it. If you make it while you're inside your account, or partway through signing in, it will open that page every time instead of the sign-in page.

To make sure your shortcut always opens the sign-in page:

  1. If you're signed in, sign out of Artwork Archive first.

  2. Go to www.artworkarchive.com and click Sign In at the top right.

  3. Create your shortcut from the sign-in page, using the steps for your device below.

What to expect when you open your shortcut

After you enter your email address and password on the sign-in page, what happens next depends on whether you have Two-Factor Authentication turned on:

  • Two-Factor Authentication off: you go straight into your account.

  • Two-Factor Authentication on: you'll see the code entry page next. Enter the code texted to your phone to finish signing in.

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Safari and go to the Artwork Archive sign-in page.

  2. Tap the Share icon (the square with the arrow pointing up).

  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.

  4. Name the shortcut "Artwork Archive."

  5. Tap Add in the top-right corner.

Your shortcut appears in the next open space on your Home Screen. To move it, press and hold until the icons shake, drag it where you'd like, then tap Done.

On an Android Phone or Tablet

  1. Open Chrome and go to the Artwork Archive sign-in page.

  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Add to Home screen.

  4. Name the shortcut "Artwork Archive."

  5. Tap Add, then Add to Home screen or Add automatically. You can also press and hold the icon to place it yourself.

On a Computer (Windows or Mac)

Option 1: Drag the link to your desktop (any browser)

This is the simplest method and works in any browser.

  1. Open the Artwork Archive sign-in page in your browser.

  2. Make your browser window smaller so you can see part of your desktop behind it.

  3. Click and hold the small icon to the left of the web address in the address bar.

  4. Drag it onto your desktop and let go.

Option 2: Create a shortcut in Google Chrome

  1. Open the Artwork Archive sign-in page in Chrome.

  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right.

  3. Select Cast, save, and share > Create shortcut.

  4. Name the shortcut "Artwork Archive" and click Create.

The shortcut appears on your desktop (Windows) or in your Chrome Apps folder (Mac).

Option 3: Create a shortcut in Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the Artwork Archive sign-in page in Edge.

  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right.

  3. Select Apps > Install this site as an app.

  4. Name it "Artwork Archive" and click Install.

You can then pin it to your taskbar or Start menu, or add a desktop shortcut when Edge prompts you.

Option 4: Add Artwork Archive to your Dock in Safari (Mac)

  1. Open the Artwork Archive sign-in page in Safari.

  2. From the top menu, select File > Add to Dock.

  3. Name it "Artwork Archive" and click Add.

Option 5: Bookmark the sign-in page

If you'd rather not add anything to your desktop, a bookmark works just as well.

  1. Open the Artwork Archive sign-in page.

  2. Press Ctrl + D (Windows) or Command + D (Mac).

  3. Name the bookmark "Artwork Archive" and save it to your bookmarks bar so it's always visible.

Troubleshooting

My shortcut opens the two-factor authentication page instead of the sign-in page

There are two common causes:

  • Your shortcut was saved while you were partway through signing in. Delete the old shortcut (see below), sign out, and create a new shortcut from the sign-in page.

  • A password manager is signing in for you. If a password manager fills in and submits your email and password automatically, you'll skip past the sign-in page and land on the code entry page. This is expected. Enter the code texted to your phone to finish signing in.

If you need to get into your account right now, close all of your browser windows, go to www.artworkarchive.com, click Sign In, and sign in as usual.

My shortcut opens my Account page, a Piece Record, or another page inside my account

Your shortcut was created while you were on that page. Delete the old shortcut, sign out, and create a new one from the sign-in page.

A password manager fills in my email and password, or signs me in automatically

Password managers save your sign-in details and fill them in for you. Some also submit the form automatically, so you may never see the sign-in page:

  • Two-Factor Authentication off: you'll go straight into your account.

  • Two-Factor Authentication on: you'll land on the code entry page. Enter the code texted to your phone.

If you can't sign in, the saved details may be out of date. This often happens after a password reset or a change to your sign-in email. Update the saved email and password in your password manager, or type them in yourself on the sign-in page.

For help with your password manager's settings, check that tool's own support resources.

How do I check where my shortcut goes?

On Windows: right-click the shortcut and select Properties. The web address is listed in the URL field on the Web Document tab.

On a phone or tablet: tap the shortcut and look at the page it opens. If it's anything other than the sign-in page, replace the shortcut.

How do I delete an old shortcut?

  • Windows or Mac desktop: right-click the shortcut and select Delete (Windows) or Move to Trash (Mac).

  • Mac Dock: right-click the icon and select Options > Remove from Dock.

  • iPhone or iPad: press and hold the icon, tap Remove App (or Delete Bookmark), then confirm.

  • Android: press and hold the icon and drag it to Remove, or tap Remove.

Does Artwork Archive have an app?

The vast majority of our users access the platform on a mobile device, but there's no need to download an app.

Artwork Archive is built on what's called a "responsive framework," which means it optimizes for whatever device you're using to take advantage of that device's features. There's nothing to download, no chance of being on a different version, and you'll always have access to the most up-to-date features the platform has to offer.
