Artwork Archive now lets you use your existing Google account to sign up or sign in with Google Single Sign-On (SSO). This means one less password to remember, and you can access your account with just a couple of clicks.
What does this mean for you? If you have a Gmail/Google account, you can use it to get into Artwork Archive without creating a new password. It's the same way you might sign in to other websites or apps using your Google account.
Signing Up with Google (New Users)
If you're brand new to Artwork Archive, here's how to create your account using Google:
Click the Sign up with Google button
A Google window will appear. Choose which Google account you want to use (if you have more than one), or sign-in to Google if you're not already
Allow Google to share your name and email with Artwork Archive
You'll see a screen that says "Almost done!" Here, select if you're an Artist, Collector, or Organization
Check the box to agree to our Terms of Service
That's it! You can start using Artwork Archive right away!
Good news!
When you sign up this way, your account is ready to use immediately. You don't need to go check your email for a confirmation link like you would if you signed up with a password.
Signing In with Google (Existing Users)
If you already have an Artwork Archive account, you can add Google as a way to sign-in. You'll still be able to use your password or magic link too—it's completely up to you each time you sign-in.
If You Originally Created Your Account with Google
Easy! Just click the Sign in with Google button on the sign-in page, select your Google account, and you're in.
If You Originally Created Your Account with an Email and Password
You can add Google as a sign-in option. Here's what will happen the first time you connect your Google account:
Click the Sign in with Google button
A Google window will pop up. Choose your Google account and allow Google to share your information with Artwork Archive
For security, we'll ask you to enter your current Artwork Archive password one time. This makes sure it's really you connecting these accounts
Enter your password and you'll be signed in
Next time you sign in, you can use Google without entering a password—it'll be quick and easy!
Important Note:
After you click the "Sign in with Google" button, you have about 5 minutes to enter your password. If you get distracted or take longer than that, you'll see an error message. Don't worry—just start over and try again. This timeout is there to keep your account safe.
Choosing How to Sign-In
Once you've connected your Google account, you can pick whichever method is easiest for you each time you sign in:
Sign-in with Google — Click a button, choose your Google account, and you're in (no password needed)
Email and password — Use the traditional way if you prefer (you'll need to set up a password first if you signed up with Google)
Magic link — Get a special link sent to your email that signs you in when you click it (no password needed, link expires after 30 minutes)
You can switch between these options anytime. Use what works best for you!
Adding a Password If You Signed Up with Google
If you created your account using Google and want to add a password as a backup way to sign in:
Navigate to the Account page in your left-side menu of your main dashboard
Scroll to the Logins section
Click Edit Login Email or Password
Set your new password
Click Save
Now you can use either Google or your password to sign-in.
Free Submit Accounts
If you're signing up for a Free Submit account (used for submitting your work to galleries, calls for entry, etc.), you can sign up with Google too! And if you already have a Free Submit account, you can add Google as a sign-in option just like any other account type.
Special Note: If You Use Multiple Email Variations
This section applies to consultants, managers, or anyone who works with multiple Artwork Archive accounts.
If you use Gmail's "plus addressing" feature (email addresses like yourname+client1@gmail.com, yourname+client2@gmail.com), keep using your email and password to sign in to those accounts. Don't use "Sign in with Google" for these accounts.
Why? Google sees yourname+anything@gmail.com as the same as yourname@gmail.com. So if you sign-in with Google, it won't be able to tell which account you're trying to access. Stick with email and password for these accounts to keep them separate.
Summary: Your Login Options
Artwork Archive gives you flexibility to sign in however you prefer:
Sign-in with Google — Fastest option, no password needed
Email and Password — Traditional method, works reliably
Magic Link — Click a link in your email to sign in, no password needed (valid for 30 minutes)
Choose what works best for you, and switch between methods anytime!
